Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India is the authority responsible for providing and managing the National Fellowship and Scholarship for higher education for ST students. Fellowship will be provided to students who are pursuing M.Phil and Ph.D. On the other hand, scholarships will be provided to the candidates pursuing a course at graduation and post-graduation level. Those who want to apply need to fill and submit the application form in online mode. Eligibility Criteria

The following eligibility criteria must be in order to apply.

For Fellowship

• The candidate belonging to ST should have passed the Post-Graduation examination for being eligible for the Fellowship. The candidate should get admission and registration for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D Courses in University / Academic Institutions recognized by UGC.

For Scholarship

• The student should belong to the ST category and must have secured admission in the notified Institutions according to the norms prescribed by the respective Institutions.
• The total family income of the candidate should not be more than 6 lakhs.

Application Form

The application form for the national Fellowship and Scholarship for higher education of ST students will release in online mode. Interested candidates who want to apply may access the application form through the National Scholarship Portal i.e. scholarships.gov.in. In the application form, candidates need to provide all the necessary details in an accurate manner.

For Scholarship

• Domicile Certificate
• Student Photograph
• Institute verification form/ Bonafide certificate
• Income certificate by competent authority
• Caste certificate
• Certificate of previous academic mark sheet attested by Institute
• Fee Receipt of current course year
• Proof of bank account in the name of student

For Fellowship

At the time of registration

• Photograph
• BPL card (if applicable)
• Caste Certificate
• Post-Graduation passing certificate
• Physically Handicapped certificate

After Selection

• Non-Judicial bond
• Certificate from Head of the Department/Institution stating that the necessary facilities will be provided by the college/University/Institution in case the candidates selected for this fellowship.
• Details about the project
• Award letter
• Joining report
• Upgradation certificate (for candidates who upgraded from M.Phil to Ph.D) – if applicable
• Proof of bank account in the name of student

Amount of Scholarship

The amount is also different for fellowship and scholarship as given below.

Fellowship

• M.Phil: Rs. 25000/- per month
• Ph.D.: Rs. 28000/- per month
