JEE Main Examination Pattern
The exam pattern of JEE Main is explained below.
JEE Main (B.E/ B. Tech)
- Mode of examination – Online computer based test (CBT). Remember, drawing test for JEE Main Paper II for B.Arch admission will be held in offline mode.
- Subjects – Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics subjects.
- Type of questions – Objective type multiple choice questions
- Number of questions – 90 questions will be asked out of which candidates have to answer 75 (choices will be provided in section B)
- Duration of the exam – 3 hours (4 hours for candidates with 40% disability)
- Medium of the question paper – English, Hindi, tamil, Urdu, Odia, Assamese, punjabi, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali for all centre cities. Aspirants have to choose the language at the time of filling the application form.
- Marking pattern – Each question will carry 4 marks
- Negative Marking – 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. No negative marking in section B.
Note: In section B, candidates have to answer only 5 questions out of 10.

- Number of questions – 80 questions + 2 questions in the drawing test
- Duration of the exam – 3 hours (4 hours for candidates with 40% disability)
- Medium of the question paper – English, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu for all centre cities. Aspirants have to choose the language at the time of filling the application form.

- Type of questions – Objective type multiple choice questions in section A. In section B, candidates have to give answer as numerical values.
- Number of questions – 105 questions
- Duration of the exam – 3 hours (4 hours for candidates with 40% disability)
- Medium of the question paper – English, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu for all centre cities. Aspirants have to choose the language at the time of filling the application form.
