GATE Eligibility Criteria 2023
Candidates looking to apply for GATE 2023 must meet the following eligibility criteria.
Nationality
- Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
- International candidates belonging to Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) will also be eligible
Educational Qualification
- Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any UG degree program in the relevant field OR has already completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts are also eligible.
Age Limit
- There is no upper age limit.
Eligibility Criteria for International Students
- International students who are currently living in countries such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Shri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) can also apply for GATE 2023.
- Please note that all international students must have completed or pursuing final year studies or pre-final year of their bachelor’s degree program in engineering and technology or equivalent.
GATE 2023 Application Form
GATE 2023 application process will take place through the GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System).The complete process of GATE application form submission is explained below.

- In order to apply, you need to visit the official website of GATE 2023 application form submission. Offline application form submission is not allowed.
- To begin the application form submission, you need to register as a “New User”.
- Once registered, you can log into GOAPS using the GOAPS Enrollment ID and GOAPS Password generated during registration.
- After logging in, you will have to fill out the complete application form.
- Then, in the application form, you will have to provide the following details.
- Personal Details – Name, Date of Birth, Phone Number, Father’s Name, Email Address, Gender, Nationality, etc.
- Educational Qualification – name of university/college, university/ college location or college roll number, etc.

- In the next step, you will have to upload scanned images of your photograph and signature.
- Finally, you need to pay the application fee as per your category. You should also take a printout of the application form submitted along with a receipt for future needs.

Mode of Payment – Candidates can pay the application fee online using methods such as a credit card/ debit card/ Internet banking/ e-wallet.
Admit Card
- Once the process of application form submission gets over, candidates will be able to download the admit card.
- The admit card will release online through the official website of the IIT/ IISc conducting the GATE 2023 examination.
- To download the admit card, candidates will have to enter the GOAPS Id and password generated during registration.
- Through admit cards, candidates will get informed about the examination center venue and exam date.
- All candidates need to carry a hard copy of the admit card along with one photo Id proof at the time of the exam.

The pattern of the GATE 2023 examination is given below.

- Marking Pattern – Some questions will carry 1 mark and a few questions will carry 2 marks
- Negative Marking – For 1 mark questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. For 2 marks questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer.

GATE 2023 Syllabus
The syllabus of GATE 2023 depends upon the subjects have selected at the time of filling the application form. Here, we are providing the syllabus of GATE General Aptitude (GA) section that is common for all candidates.

GATE 2023 Result
- Before the result declaration, authorities will upload the answer keys and GATE 2023 response sheet.
- To check the result, candidates will have to provide their roll numbers and date of birth.
- The result will carry information about the subject-wise and total marks secured by applicants.
- Those who will secure more than GATE Cut Off 2023 marks will be declared successful.
