The Common Entrance Exam for Design 2024 (CEED 2024) will be conducted by IIT Bombay to assess the candidate’s aptitude for admission to Master of Design (M.Des) course. The admission will be granted into the prestigious institutes such as IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IISc Bangalore, IIITDM Jabalpur, and IIT Kanpur etc. Exam will be divided into two parts i.e. part A and part B. The part A will carry objective type MCQs while part B will be a test of candidate’s drawing and writing ability.

CEED 2024 Important Dates

CEED Eligibility Criteria 2024

The aspirant needs to clear the following eligibility criteria in order to appear for the CEED exam.

• The aspirant must possess a degree/ diploma/ PG degree of minimum 3 year duration after passing 10+2.
• The candidates appearing for the final year exam of the qualifying degree/ diploma by July 2024 can also apply.
• The candidates having a GD Arts diploma in (10+5) pattern are also eligible.

Note: There is no age limit for the CEED exam. Additionally, the candidates can appear for this exam as many times as they want.

CEED Application Form 2024

The application form of CEED 2024 exam will be released in online mode through the official website i.e. http://www.ceed.iitb.ac.in.

• In order to fill the application form, the candidates have to register themselves on the official website.
• The candidates need to enter all the mandatory educational, contact and personal details in the registration form.
• In addition to the details, the candidates have to upload the scanned images of the following documents.
  • Recent colour photograph in .jpg format.
  • Image of candidate’s signature in .jpg format.
  • Degree/ Diploma certificate in .pdf format.
  • Category certificate in .pdf format (if applicable)
• After submitting the application form, the candidates should keep a downloaded copy of the same for future reference.

Application Fee

The online application form is not valid unless the candidate pays the required application fee.  The application fee for different candidates will be as follows:

• For all women candidates: Rs. 1300/-
• For SC/ ST/ PwD candidates: Rs. 1300/-
• All other candidates: Rs. 2600/-

The application fee will be paid only through the online mode using a credit card, debit card or internet banking.

Note: The late fees will be Rs. 500/- for all the candidates

Exam Pattern

Part – A Exam Pattern

Mode of Exam: Online (Computer Based Test)

Type of Questions: Objective type multiple choice questions

Duration of Exam: 1 hour

The questions in Part A will be designed to determine the visual and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and     logical reasoning, language, observation and design sensitivity of the candidates.

Part – B Exam Pattern

• In part B, the questions will be displayed on the computer screen and the candidates have to write their answers in the answer book.
• The answer book will be collected at the end of the exam.
• The Part B answer book will be evaluated only if the candidate is qualified in Part A.
• There will be 8 questions in the Part – B of total 100 marks.

Note: The final CEED 2024 score will be calculated by giving 25% weightage to the part A marks and 75% weightage to the part B marks.

CEED Syllabus 2024

The syllabus of Part-A and Part-B will be as follows:

Part A

• Visualization and spatial ability: Diagrammatic and pictorial questions to evaluate the understanding of transformation or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects.
• Environmental and social awareness: General awareness of population, water, vegetation, pollution etc.
• Analytical and logical reasoning: The question will be designed to determine the candidate’s ability to test given information logically and choose the most appropriate solutions.
• Language and creativity: Understanding the passage in common English, ability to think out of the box.
• Design thinking and problem solving
• Observation and design sensitivity

How to prepare for CEED?

The aspiring candidates may follow the tips and tricks given below to prepare for the CEED exam

• You should try to read various topics about the interaction designs and visual communication. Acquire as much knowledge as possible regarding the visual communication and interaction designs.
• Keep drawing common things from your day to day life such as objects, vegetables, fruits etc.
• The 3D perspective of the image is very important. You should always keep this in your mind while polishing your drawing skills.
• Go through the syllabus and previous year question papers to understand what kind of questions you will be facing in the exam.

Recommended Books

The CEED exam is all about testing the aptitude and creativity of the candidate. That’s why it is very difficult to recommend any specific book for the exam.

• The candidates should work on their drawing, visualization and rendering skill as much as possible.
• The previous year question papers can be immensely helpful. They are available on the official website of CEED.

Admit Card

• The admit card will be available for downloading from the official website of CEED after the submission of application form.
• The details about the exam time and venue will be mentioned on the CEED Admit card 2024.
• Please note that the candidates have to take the colour printout of the admit card.
• Along with the admit card, the applicants have to carry one photo id proof and required stationery at the exam center.

Result

• Result will be declared in online mode through the official website.
• The validity of CEED Exam score is one year from the date of its declaration.
• The candidates will be able to download their CEED Score Card 2024 after a few days of result declaration.
• The IIT Bombay will not conduct any centralized counselling. The counselling will be done by the participating institutes separately.
