IIT JAM 2024 application form might be available from September 2024. The exam is organized by the various IITs and Indian Institute of Sciences on a rotational basis for admission to M.Sc. (Two Years), Masters in Economics (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, and other Post-Bachelor Degree Programmes & Integrated Ph.D. Programmes. The exam will be held in online mode and the total duration of the exam will be three hours.

Based on the performance of the candidates, the authority will draw a separate merit list in terms of the categories in which the candidates have applied for the exam. Mere appearance in IIT JAM 2024 or being in the merit list will not guarantee the admission. Candidates will be selected as per the admission procedure decided by the authority. IIT JAM 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria that every candidate should follow in order to apply for IIT JAM 2024 are given below-

Nationality: Indian and Foreign Nationals can apply for the exam. However, the foreign applicants will have to satisfy the rules and regulations of the Admitting Institute(s) related to foreign students.

Educational qualification

• Applicants should possess a valid bachelor’s degree from a recognized University.
• The minimum percentage or CGPA/CPI to be secured in the qualifying exam has been relaxed to JUST PASS.
• Appearing candidates or those who have appeared in the qualifying exam are eligible to apply.

Age Limit

There is no age limit prescribed to apply for IIT JAM.

IIT JAM 2024 Application Form

Please follow the instructions below to fill IIT JAM application form 2024:

• Candidates can apply for the IIT JAM exam through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal.
• Candidates will be required to first register for the exam by providing their name, valid email address, mobile number and password.
• Once the registration is complete, they will receive a unique enrollment ID which they need to enter while login into the portal to fill rest of the application form.
• Before filling the online form, applicants should keep their relevant documents ready including the scanned photograph and signature.
• The details in the form must be filled as per the authentic information and the official records.
• Once the form is filled, candidates need to proceed towards the payment section to pay the necessary application fee for the exam.
• The application form must be submitted on or before the due date given by the authority or else they will end up getting rejected.
• Information provided in the application form cannot be changed once the form is successfully submitted.
• Candidates need not send the hard copy of the application form to the concerned authority.

Mode of payment: The payment of the application fee can be made using the net banking/credit card/debit card. Along with the fee stated above, bank charges may be applied depending on the payment option.

IIT JAM 2024 Exam Pattern

• Exam mode: Online (computer-based test)

IIT JAM Syllabus

The syllabus for different test papers under IIT JAM 2024 is as follows-

Biological Sciences (BL): General biology, basics of biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, microbiology, cell biology and immunology, and mathematical sciences.

Biotechnology (BT):

• Biology (10+2+3 level)
• Chemistry (10+2+3 level)
• Mathematics (10+2 level)
• Physics (10+2 level)

Physics (PH): Mathematical methods, waves and optics, electricity and magnetism, kinetic theory, thermodynamics, modern physics and solid state physics, mechanics and general properties of matter, oscillations, devices and electronics.

Mathematics (MA): Sequences and series of real numbers, integral calculus, differential equations, vector calculus, group theory, functions of one real variable, functions of two or three real variables, linear algebra and real analysis.

IIT JAM 2024 Admit card

The admit card will be available to download only on the official web portal of the JOAPS.

Candidates need to retain a printout copy of their hall ticket and keep it safe till the admission procedure is completed.

Candidates will only be allowed to enter the exam hall if they possess a valid admit card and original photo ID proof.

Applicants should carefully check the details printed on the hall ticket and inform the authority of the discrepancy if any is found.

At the time of exam, the biometric verification of the candidates will also be done.

The admit card will consist of the information such as exam venue, exam date, reporting time, session, candidate’s name, category, etc.

IIT JAM 2024 Answer Key

IIT JAM exam conducting authority will release the answer key after few days of the completion of the exam. Candidates can check final answer key at the official website of IIT JAM.

The answer key includes the correct answers for all those questions which are asked in the exam. The authority prepares and releases the final result on the basis of final answer key. Hence, it allows candidates to predict their marks in prior to the declaration of result.

IIT JAM 2024 Result

The result of IIT JAM 2024 exam will be declared on the official web portal of concerned JOAPS. For each paper, an All India Rank will be assigned to all the candidates based on their performance in the exam. Candidates who qualify the exam can also check their scorecard and AIR by login into the JOAPS portal. IIT JAM 2024 Merit List

The concerned authority releases the IIT JAM merit list after few days of the announcement of result. It is published at All India level. Based on the performance of candidates, the authority prepares and assigns an All India rank to them for each test paper.

Answer: Sorry, you are not eligible to apply once the deadline of the application form submission is over. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the deadline in mind.

Question 2: I made mistakes while filling my Date of Birth or Category or my name or my parent/guardian name or degree or college name or year of graduation or some other filed. What to do now? Can I fix it?

Answer: The date of application form correction will be notified by the concerned authority. Please wait for the announcement to be made for defective applications. There are certain changes that may ask you pay additional fee.

Question 3: Being a foreign national, can I apply for IIT JAM?

Answer: Yes, you can apply for IIT JAM.

Question 4: Are category certificates issued in the regional languages accepted?

IIT JAM 2024 Cut off

The cut off marks are the minimum qualifying marks required to be acquired by candidates based on their category. All candidates necessarily have to cross the cut off to become eligible to attend the counseling process.

Once the cut off is released, the concerned authority calls the student to attend the counseling process which will be based on AII India Rank (AIR).

IIT JAM 2024 Counselling Process

IIT JAM 2024 counselling will be conducted in various round based on the availability of seats after each round. Candidates are offered admission based on their rank in the merit list.

All qualified candidates have to attend the counselling process in person at their allotted centres in order to confirm their admission. If a candidate doesn’t attend the counselling then the seat will be transferred to the next eligible candidate.

Candidates have to complete all admission formalities which also include document verification and fee payment.

IIT JAM 2024 Admission procedure

For admission in different PG programmes offered by the IITs, only the candidates who have successfully qualified the JAM exam will be considered. Candidates need to apply for admission by filling the application form available on the JOAPS portal. They need to pay Rs. 600/- as the non-refundable processing fee while filling the form. Candidates also need to indicate their choice of the programme in order of preference in the form. The authority will then publish the first admission list taking into the consideration of the order of preference given by the candidates. Following this, candidates will have to pay the necessary seat booking fee to confirm their admission.
